Optical Drive stopped working on my Vaio VPCL13M1E

Installed Windows 8 and DVD has stopped working.  Fires up when you load a CD, but does not read.  On Device Manager, it has no reference to a DVD drive being on my VAIO..

Have you manage to sort your dvd drive problem as i have encountered the same thing

Yes.  Phoned Sony.  My Vaio is not compatable with Windows 8!!!  I had to go through and reload Windows 7 from the hidden partion, now works fine!  Pity, Windows 8 looked great for a touch screen PC.  Hope this helps..
