My laptop is running Win 7 but has started to go to the blue screen on start up. I have run some scans and all hardware shows as fine. I have 2gb of memory in 2 x 1gb slots, when I remove one of the modules the laptop runs fine. I swapped over the modules and when they are both in I get the blue screen but when only one is used the laptop boots up ok. Both modules run in the slot that works so I guess I have a fault on one of the memory slots. The question is can I put in a 2gb (maybe even 4gb) module in the working slot as the laptop is slow running on just 1gb of memory?
Thanks Paul
Hi Paul and welcome to the community,
It does sound like one of your memory slots could be faulty.
I have checked and the max. memory configuration for your model is 2x1GB=2GB.
Cheers,
Cass
Hi @notever and Welcome!
Unfortunately you beat me to it Cass
Just wanted to add that if any members need help with details of what Ram they have installed and what they can install, then Crucial.com is one of the best places to go.
(Several Experts on this forum have used them before )
Thanks Cass, but can I put a 2gb module in one slot and run on that one slot?
Cheers
Paul
Hi again
No sadly not.
The maximum is 1GB per slot so adding a single 2GB won't work in it
Thats sad, laptop is running so slow its probably not worth keeping. Grateful for all your help.
Thanks Jumpy
