slow bootup time - 10 minutes

It takes my Vaio T1 about 10 minutes to bootup. There are not many programmes launching on start-up. The disk has been defragmented and s about 75% full. The slow boot starts immediately and sounds as if the hard disk accessing is very slow. Once booted up the machine seems same speed as always.

Anybody got any ideas?

I have a similar situation, more this happened after to buy a cryptography software. First I observed the answers, and I didn't see any comment questioning on some virtual drive or if you accompanied which are the processes being executed in the moment of the initialization, that is important to consider...

Yep it Tune Up Tony and here is the linkTuneUtilities However a free registry cleaner is Easy CleanerEasyCleaner I keep this one on board incase I need to cross check if the registry is being looked after. Tyger Tyger got me onto this and it is a great stop gap but as he advised be careful with the other functions they seem a bit dangerous. Tune Up IMO is king as it is resource economic and really good so save your pennies it's US$30.

TuneUp Utilities is easily the best, I think it's a fantastic program. Easycleaner is OK, but it doesn't detect all that much really. Another good 30 day trial RegCleaner is one by Ace Utilities (Download).

They are usually safe, as long as you create a restore point first. They all come with backups of the registry to restore to if something goes wrong anyway.
