Why won't my vaio VGN-NS30E play dvd's?

My vaio won't play dvd's today but it did yesterday. Has anyone got any idea's as to why?

Hi pink-kel,

Difficult to say what the problem is but are you able to read and write to CD’s as opposed to DVD’s?

Are the any warnings against the drive in Device Manger?

Have you tried cleaning the laser lens with a proprietary cleaner?

I have now discovered that I can play any dvd apart from my waterloo road series 5 discs.

Does anyone have any ideas why my dvd doesn't want to play those? Are there different formats or a patch I need to download to play them?

They are original discs and not copies.

Hi pink-kel,

This would seem to be a problem with the waterloo road series 5 discs and therefore nothing to do with the DVD player. Have you tried cleaning the disk(s)?
