Wondering if anyone else is having this problem ... I have a VGN-A117S and since applying XP SP2 the eject button doesn't work on the optical drive (it's a "software driven" eject button on the A117S, the proper eject button on the drive front that you would use normally is a tiny thing for emergencies only). I still get the little "EJECT" message on the screen when I hit eject but it doesn't actually eject. The emergency eject still works - as does right clicking the drive under My Computer and selecting "Eject". If I remove SP2 then the eject button works as normal again. Reinstall SP2 and the eject button stops working again.
Also - am I just being dumb or is there really no search functionality on this forum?

Try:
1) Reinstalling the Sony Utilities
2) Check you don't have Alcohol 120% installed - this assigns the button to a virutal drive.
Thanks Keelo - just found the answer on page 7 of this forum too ... I would have done a search for the answer if only there had been a search option - I hate it when Newbies ask questions without looking for the answer first. 😞
Sorry to dump questions that have already been answered on you..
Keep happy.

No problem Phil...
The important bit is it fixed?
LOL - Yes it is my friend.
I had been using Alcohol120% but I've had "issues" with the way it works anyway - this thing with the Eject button has just finally convinced me to dump the steaming pile of turd.
I'll go back to Daemon Tools for now - and start looking for a better tool than Alcohol120%.

I think it's quite handy, but I don't use it a lot.
Try DemonTools - shareware / freeware and seems much less bloated than Alcohol...
