WH-1000xm3 switch connections between paired devices

Currently, in order to switch the Bluetooth connection from one paired device to another, it is necessary to first manually disconnect from the currently connected device, before connecting to another. This is annoying because it may not be obvious which device is currently connected. There is a workaround; to re-pair the headphones when switching the connection. But it would be much better if connecting to a paired device automatically disconnected any other current Bluetooth connections. Is it technically possible to add this feature with a firmware update or is the current behaviour a hardware limitation of the headphones?

I'm not sure if it's technically impossible to add it as a feature. I've passed your feedback on to Sony just in case

I got nowhere trying to get Sony to even understand the question when asking them about this. I’m guessing they didn’t get back to you?

Hey,

If they weren't of help on the phone, or didn't understand your question, you can always send them a detailed email.

And wait to see what they have to say

I just contacted the Support regarding the same issue. The headphones do not serve the purpose in the new hybrid world where I need to use headphones with the laptop and next with the phone.

These headphones are designed to be used with one device only OR Apple has serious issues (I got MacBook Air and iPhono 11 Pro). Probably both brands will point to the other's direction. 😕

I'll first try to figure out this connectivity problem and then I'll try find out why the sound quality during remote meetings is so bad that based on the feedback from the audience I cannot use the WH-1000XM3 with laptop.

My experiences with my first Sony headphones is not a smooth ride.

SOLVED: Switching connections between devices is not supported

Sony's headphones DO NO support switching connections between paired devices without manually disconnecting the current connection and then manually connecting to the next device.

"One trick pony" - Sony's headphones are meant to be used mainly with one device and for work environment where you need to switch between your laptop and phone -  seek for alternative products.

Hi Tony_FIN, you're right, this model doesn't support multi connection, the XM4 does.
