I recently got an X Compact and have had some issues, the most annoying being the fact that there are a few apps I can't install. It says it can't install this item because of the device's country, but everything is set to the U.S., I'm on a U.S. carrier (Cricket), I live in the U.S., and the phone is a U.S. phone. It's only happened so far with the Amazon Prime Video app and the Diverse Power app (My DPI). I don't see any reason why either wouldn't download since they're both U.S. based. It's weird to me because I've downloaded a lot of apps and so far only these two have had issues. Any ideas?
Amazon Prime Video has region lock for non US. Call or email them.
If you're playing knifey spoony, VPN gets around the block. You just have to find a VPN service that works with it.
I watch HBO from Australia. Don't tell anyone.
Hi @BobWellington,
Welcome to the community!
It sounds like these applications may have a regional block. If an app is incompatible with your phone it will not be possible to install it from Google Play. It could be your specific phone model or the current Android version installed that is not compatible with the app in question.
Considering that there isn't any trouble with installing other apps I wouldn't say that something is wrong. But like you where previously suggested in this thread, you might be able to get around this using a VPN. I would however recommend that you contact the developer for these two apps to check what your options are.
Don't worry @NeoBeum, your secret is safe with us.
It doesn't make any sense that they won't install for me since I'm in the U.S., but since I couldn't get it to work even with a VPN I ended up sideloading the Amazon Video app and it works fine. The other app isn't that important so I'll just go without it. Thanks for the replies.
No worries, thanks for the update! Glad to hear you found a solution to this.
Let me know if there's anything else.
