Bad bad move to remove something always present in our Xperia Z

RadioFM is something really good when u're on a beach, and u've a bad connession or u want just listen your prefered frequences without impacting on our little plan data !!!

Rickard, did they also tell you why they removed the FM-radio? And will there be a chance that they will add it again (as it's most likely software related because other SD820 phones do have it)? Anyways, I hope they won't do this again with future Xperia's, because it will hurt their sales I believe.

So long and thanks for all the fish...

Without FM radio, for me and my wife, the next one will be definitively an Apple device. Sony has some years to correct their path, by the way, because our terminals are quite new. Slightly_smiling_Face

It is an odd move, by the way. Many people bought this phone for Fm Radio. After all, Sony is a multimedia company: video, music and radio should be the core business. If they ditch the radio, they throw away one of the few distinguishing things from other android phones.

Oddly, in many countries, nextRadio is becoming an high selling application while we had FM right from the start.

It seems as they're copying Samsung's strategy :

On midrangephone u can find FM RADIO

On toprange u can't !!!

Clear as the sun ...

BAD BAD MOVE.

Which brings to the point where we ask why we should invest 800 € in a Sony rather than to a Galaxy s7 or an iphone that have the same limitations of this device but with a lot of other more things.

Speaking of which, have you seen the camera section of the new S7 or the side bar links of the edge? Practically all the things Sony took away from his devices and a lot of better other stuff. The moving panorama is amazing.

X performance is smaller in screen and battery yet thicker and heavier than Z5. Cannot understand why fm radio was removed when Z5 could have it.

Was waiting for a new Xperia phone to replace my Z2 this year. Now I feel not so keen to wait for X performance since it does not even have fm. Maybe I'll get cheaper Z5 with full feature set now that it is receiving Marshmallow Or maybe even Galaxy S7. Slightly_frowning_Face

No radio, no sell.

I use the fm radio every day.

I don't like the streaming services. I've already have all the mp3 I want.

There isn't much improve between z5 and x performance.

Can we get an answer why they removed it and if it will be future policy?

You'll never get that answer...

Lack of radio might push me to Samsung S7 even though I do really like the shutter button on the Sony

4K recording also not metioned, did they dropped it also? I would understand that move in out-dated Z2 when there wasn't any cheap 4K TV but now in 2016 where almost 3 of 10 bought TV's are 4K? Not quite understandable move for a "future" device. And agreed with above FM lack is a kick for data plan even if I have 10 Gigs per month with Z2 I'm left with only 2 gigs in the end of the month so normal meiling, Fb, twitt and whatsApp my Z2 consumes 8 gigs a month... now let's add FM streaming from web... Don't like it. Seriously thinking bout Z5 but camera blur issue drives me crazy. Maybe Z3+ would be a better choice afterall or might be just the last proper sony without defects.
