Then put it on this phone on the next firmware update. I guess there's no hardware limitation.

Btw, where can we make petitions or requests about putting something new in our phones?

Hi,

I'm afraid Xperia XZ does not have a FM radio. It's not something that can be added with an update as the phone doesn't have all the hardware components needed for this.

So, let them confirm that 😐?

They just did? Rickard is part of sony Xperia support, and is posting with knowledge that the XZ does not have the full hardware support for an fm radio.

That's just unacceptable!
I am flabbergasted!
Taking away the FM radio is a serious game changer in my love for Sony.
So sad 😔

according to sony's marketing division, people who buy high-end sony phones tend to have much money aka rich so they must disable FM radio on every high-end phones they have (phones above z5) in order to **bleep** consumer's money out of their wallet and buy internet plan as much as possible just to listen to music or news...looks like sony has made some sort of evil agreement with carrier to make this happen...

but it is good since i don't want to buy xperia phones anyway until they put fm radio on their high end phones and add stylus or maybe physical keyboard as its accessories

The others high-end phones don't have FM radio too. Apart from active noise cancelling and charging technology I don't see what make Experia phone better than others, even iPhones. Maybe they have an edge over iPhone because the USB OTG but it's an Android thing, rather than Sony.

My case: I work in a noisy office. I use Sony's MDR31nc noise cancelling earphone to listen to my Z5 FM radio, so I don't get distracted and I can do my job. I don't get why I should max out my data plan for listening to the same radio broadcasting I can get for free.

When my Z5c "career" will be off I will buy an iPhone and leave the Z5c at the office for noise cancelling.

iPhone costs about the same as a brand new high-end Sony and gives you five years or more of system updates. Android just a couple: the trade off for me was the radio so: bye bye Sony, bye bye Android.
