Sound distortion/clicking in speakers in some apps

Hi,

I bought my Xperia X 3 days ago (New and sealed) , and I have updated it to the latest version, but I noticed that in some games, there is clicking/distortion in the sound, examples of such games are Dynasty Warriors Unleased, and Mobile Legends:Bang Bang. The sound is good when playing music though, and I have tried changing the audio settings, but there is still a clicking noise in some games.

Hi @MJ55, welcome to the community.

So to confirm, this doesn't happen with every app, only a few games? So if you start your phone in safe mode

It is possible that the games aren't optimised for your handset. Can you please try some other games from different developers and see if the same thing happens?

Yes it does happen in some games and not all of them, and from different developers not the same.

@MJ55

I wonder if it's something to do with the engine the games use. Looks like Dynasty Warriors uses Unreal, not sure about Mobile Legends.

Because it is not happening with every game it must be something specific to those apps rather than the phone. I recommend you contact the developers of the problem games and let them know.

That also came to my mind, but what if there was a bug in Android 7's API? Or perhaps not being backwards compatible with older versions of Android? Also maybe there is a compatibility problem with Xperia X not fully supporting Android 7?

@MJ55,

The Xperia X fully supports Android 7 so it is unlikely be that. It is more likely that the games are not optimised for your specific build or not making use of the sound drivers correctly.

I did experience a similar issue on a game that hadn't been updated in some time a while ago. I reported the issue and some time later the game was updated and the issue was gone.

It is up to the developers in situations like this to make sure their apps are up to date, as updating Android to be compatible with each of the millions of apps that are out there is logistically impossible.
