Status bar pull down not working

A month ago I bought my girlfriend the Xperia X. Now she can't pull down the status bar any longer. The touch screen seems to be dead in this area. A restart and factory reset did not help. I searched the forum and some Z3 phones seem to have the same problem. How could Sony transfer such a serious fault from an older series to a newer one?

Hi @Bdjdjd, I'm sorry to hear that you are experiencing the same troubles. Slightly_frowning_Face

Have you tried any of the suggestion that I posted in this thread? If haven't tried any of them I would recommend starting with the touchscreen test in Diagnostics and continue on from there.

Let me know how it went! Slightly_smiling_Face

Some XA users like me are also facing this issue. Luckily for me the top panel is not totally numb. If I use my thumb instead (larger surface area) this important task can be accomplished. But when the phone is lying on flat it becomes nearly impossible to pull it down.

And please I have done everything mentioned here.

RESULT- IT IS A HARDWARE FAULT, no amount of software repairs would ever solve this.

An advice - if someone else is facing this and like me the panel Is not totally dead then do this_

To pull it down do not start swiping from the top bezel. Start swiping from the status bar itself. Put your finger on the status bar and wait till the notification bar comes partially down and then swipe.

Also - - If you plug the effected phone on charging then suddenly the sensitivity at top part boosts up though still my various attempts go in vain. (This proves it is a hardware issue)

Hi @Carbonatedcheeze, I'm sorry to hear that you experience the same troubles. Slightly_frowning_Face

I am very thankful for the great information and the recommendation.

In your case it sounds like it's related to hardware and your phone has to be repaired at an authorized service centre.

So I'd recommend getting in touch with your Local support team so they can assist you with having the phone sent in.

They will also be able to answer any questions that you may have regarding warranty and service routines.

Keep me updated! Slightly_smiling_Face

#Update.

Today out of curiosity I removed my scratch guard (which rather made my XA look ugly) . Magic..now the screen is totally responsive and accurate. Pulling down the bar is really easy and nice.

WHAT MADE ME THINK THAT THE SCRATCH GUARD IS NO PROBLEM is that after the guard was applied I could still easily access the bar. This problem started after a gap of around 2 month or so(I DONT KNOW WHAT CHANGES OCCURED) and combined with little sensitivity boost on charging I THOUGHT IT WAS AN INTERNAL HARDWARE DEFECT.

in addition my phone looks awesome now

That's nice

Hello,

I had the same problem with my Z, started with the status bar and the problem was complicated also to the menu bar, so much that my Z was replaced by an X (In december, I guess)

One month ago, my new X stardted with the same Status Bar problem, Now I'm waiting for the technical service to pick up my phone.

I sent my phone to the Tec Service.

Yesterday, after 10 days they got it back, but the problem persist.

I´ve contacted with Customer Support, and the only solution that they´ve given me has been to get in touch with Tec Service via Web, again.

So, now I´m waiting for Monday to pick up the phone... Again

Hi again!

I'm so sorry to hear that you experience the same behaviour after getting it back from the authorized service centre. Slightly_frowning_Face

I'm afraid that I can't give you any other advice either since this really do seem related to hardware rather than software.

I hope that everything will work out in the end so you can enjoy your phone!
