WiFi connection problems

I have a Sony Xperia X and whenever I try to connect to the Wifi at work with my username and password it won't let me connect without selecting a CA certificate option. However, when I do try to select either of these it comes up with an authentication error.

I have contact my work helpdesk but they say I'm the only one with the problem so it must be an issue with my device.

Any suggestions??

Hi @Trina1, welcome to the community.

Try this. Go to Settings > Lock screen & security > Clear credentials. Then try to connect again.

Just tried this, but unfortunately no luck!

I've just tried this but unfortunately it's not helped.

Thanks very much though!

@Trina1,

Because it's a work Wi-Fi we cannot do any of the testing on the router, so let's try testing the phone in safe mode and see if it still happens.

I've just tried this as well, but unfortunately no luck. Thanks very much though!

If I could just find a way to get rid of the CA certificate option when I'm logging in I think it would work. When I sign in with another android device it just asks for my username and password and it works fine.

Also in my xperia xz, when my phone is in android 6.0 it will connect to our company wifi, then after i update to 7.0 thats the time the connect button is disabled.

@Trina1

The network will be asking for the certificate, it seems like your phone doesn't have the right one installed. There are hundreds of them so I don't have a way to know exactly which certificate is correct.

Try back up your device then run a software repair using Xperia Companion. This will take your phone back to default, but hopefully reinstate any missing certificates. Test it before you restore your back up.

@rogie06,

Is yours asking for CA Certificates too?

Hi,

I've followed your advice and I tried connecting again today.

It still asked me for  the CA certificate, but when I selected ignore it let me connect, whereas before it was coming up with an authentication error.

Thanks very much!!
