Sound off and on without command

Sometime when I am watching a video, or even when i recieve calls it doesnt always ring, sound goes off. Any solution?

My phone arrived today. 

I'm having the same problem. And am pretty disappointed. 

Facebook,  YouTube,  my own videos.  Just randomly lose volume.  Sometimes a pause and in pause sorts it.  Other times I have to close and restart the app

Obviously a fair few of us are having this issue,  and no resets or Sony companion is helping 

So simply,  is sony aware of this problem and sorting the issue? Or will it be a return of the phone and move manufacturer?

I am also having the same problem with my Xperia XA1 Ultra Dual Sim; in Paris. Is it all the phones or just some of the phones? Because now I have to figure out how to replace this device at Fnac, in French!

I noticed it happend to Facebook videos as I scroll through and the sound would cut out after the first few seconds at times.

Then it would happen to YouTube videos. It would work again if I restart or turn the screen on and off. It seems to only happen to the speaker and not earphones.

I tried a factory reset, nothing changed.

I have all the updates; please fix internally.

Well, looks like Sony dropped the ball again, I just brought the xa1 ultra from bestbuy yesterday and guess what, sounds dropped. Just like everyone else on this post, I tried to run diagnostics and the loud speaker fail, and so far after reading most reply ,Sony is not doing anything or have not done anything about it.
Same thing happend to my old xepria XL when I brought them new, the microphone muted between call, and looks like the XA ultra also had issue. Which just really bothers me that after all people tried their best to support the company and buy the products but instead meet with second teir even third teir resepones with you just have to take to your local support, how do you think we should recomand the sony brand to others?

After sharing several posts, still no positive feedback from sony.

Have you found the bug yet or just ignoring these claims? Is there any software fixture or it is a hardware issue?

I got the phone today and if this is not fixed within 10 days I am giving it back and going to another manufacturer.

guys there is a new software update available for xperia XA1 ultra, maybe this will solve our issue.

I'm having this issue as well, seems to be happening more frequently the past few days as well. First few seconds of a video will play with sound, the it'll mute. Pausing for a few seconds then resuming makes it work again sometimes, otherwise you need to kill the app and restart. Hopefully it'll be fixed.

After tinkering, I was able to determine that the sound cuts off when you set the notification volume to less than media volume. It works again if you move the notif. volume to above the media volume. However, if you move the media volume to lower than notif. volume, it works just fine.
I returned my phone today and got a new one. So far, the issue has not come up.

Guys, not sure if everyone is same or not, but as another person posted, there was a new update from Sony, and after the update, the sound issue was fixed. At least for me youtube and gaming all sound very good.

I have to give the kudo to Sony this time, taking care cusotmer and fixing the problem..

Exact same problem, the only solution I've found is to close whichever app is having audio issues and tap menu buttons to sort of remind your phone its speakers work..its ridiculously frustrating.
