Cannot restore contacts using PC Companion

Hi all

I had taken a backup of all the contactcs before upgrading to 4.3

After upgrading to 4.3 at some point  I deleted my contacts intentionaly. Now when i try to restore the contacts through PC companion it says successful and asks me to restart the phone. But no contacts are coming up on restart.

I have many backup copies. none are working though pc companion says successful. Please help

Hi A-T

     I do faced this problem few months ago, where i lost all my contacts from phone, since i had back up i tried to restore it, it says successful but in contact list it shows empty, and but in messages list, it shows names of the person!! who sent me the messages(mean i can see  that contact has been restored since numbers is converted to names) but in contacts it shows empty.

unfortunately i dont remember how i figured that out, even i tried same scenario using my phone now, i cant able to find that, in case if i found then will let you know..

what i suggest is( am not sure about it since i have contacts list with me now i cant try that )so,  try this

>if contacts list is showing empty, open contacts, then right click (properties) you can see few options i guess there might have some options reference to hidden contacts(i guess) , by choosing that option you might see the contacts list

Thanks for the reference thommo. I tried to restore as given in the link you gave. But it is only restoring only few of may contacts. its only restoring it seems my social contacts. is it smething wrong with all the backups which the pc copmapnion has created.

glad and sad to see someone had the same fate. Ya i do remember something about hidden contacts. but unfortunately cant locate that option. could not find it in contact>settings

sure and thanks Manju. I will update on the same ASAP. i am trying all my hard. Trusting PC companion costed me. should not happen to others.

I wonder why you are using PC companion to backup your contacts? Just enable syncing contacts with your Google account and then you never need to care about this any longer.It works perfect after upgrades, if you.buy a new phone and even on multiple phones. The.contacts are always synchronized.

I would definitely use google acconunt syncing now onwards. But these backup was done as pc companion was open in front of my eyes and the option of backing up was right there. so did it never doubting that in future the same application will avoid restoring its own done backups lol. but now those backups are all i have.
