Hi if you could help i would be forever grateful...
I turned my phone on and then typed in my password which it accepted, it then showed the message
"sorry - the process com.sonyericsson.customization has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again"
and gives me the option to force close so i press ok and it just brings up the same message again and again, i cant get past it yet i can see all my messagges behind it and it still accepts incoming calls. this phone has all my numbers for years on it please help if you know how to get them off or preferably stop this message coming up so i can use the phone. i can hook it up by usb and ive tried the update is there something i can remove from the sd card to stop it looking for or needing it. help!
Can you boot to safemode to see if you can stop the error message appearing?
I managed to get it into safe mode using the hardware menu key method but the message is still coming up as in the video it's not managed to stop the message. i havent installed anything on it for sometime
I see, then you may need to try connecting to a PC and attempting a backup. After that is done you may be best to perform a software repair on the device.
I have supplied some instructions below.
Here's how to run the repair on PC Companion:
1. Install and open PC Companion then select Support Zone.
2. Phone Software Update.
3. Start.
4. Repair Phone
5. Continue
6. Accept data removal
7. Next
8. Wait for prepare
9. Select Phone
10. Follow the connection steps
And Bridge for Mac:
1. Launch Bridge for MAC without the handset connected.
2. On the Main Window select "Xperia > Repair Xperia Device".
3. Ensure the phone is charged and select "Ok" in the following window.
4. Select Continue on the following page.
5. Wait until the initialising step is finished the continue as below.
6 . Select your model of phone from the list that appears
7. Follow the connection steps that appear, ensuring that you are holding the relevant button down before during and after the connection phase until the update/repair begins.
Thanks for your time, so frustrating, i will try that in the morning and see how i get on
No worries, I hope it all goes well for you. Keep us updated.
Hi me again.! does the above repair lose all my contacts and messages etc? i have been all though the pccompanion and there seems to be no way i can get my contacts off the phone using it? there is no back up option
as per the video if that message did not appear i could quite hapily use the phone i can see all my stuff is there behind the error message and on the odd occasion im quick enough i can access certain things its like ive been locked out by this sony customization ap which i have no idea what it is nor can i find anything on it
What options do you have within PC Companion?
A software repair will definitely remove the content from the device, and seems to be the only other option I can think off.
Can you give me the exact error message, or is the exact error message as stated in the Subject line?
Hi Jake you are quick, i appreciate that, the message is -
"sorry - the process com.sonyericsson.customization has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again" and i have the option to force close which i click but the message comes up again no matter how many times i press it as shown in the vid below
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LxItnoxS8mY
if im quick i can pull the drop down menu and access things as the message frequency slows but i cant get to contacts that way
as said frustrating as i can see my stuff is not corrupt its just the repeated sony message its trying to load something i guess but no idea what
PCC options are
support zone
xperia transfer (this suggests i can but its asking for a new phone which i dont have)
contacts set up
media go
sync zone
file manager
the phone is xperia neo v and pcc sees it fine
if its any use it shows com.sonyericsson.customization ap as v 1.0 i cant see away to delete it i found clear cache which i tried but it still comes up i only use it for standard phone and text no net no fbook etc but obviously ive had it for some time
Thanks for the info, I was under the impression that this device was an Xperia V, unfortunately the Xperia Neo V does not have the back up function, this function was only implemented for the later devices, such as the Xperia V.
Based on this info, the only options I can see here is going to be either a software repair of Factory Reset. You can however backup the contacts to a SIM card or SD card.
Menu > Contacts > Press Menu Key > Press Backup/Export > Select SIM/SD > Select all > backup
