Ok so its really close now to being able to see ICS on our phones, excited.
But for those of us not using Windows or Mac, how can we update?
Would it be possible to provide an update Rom to place on our SD cards, so enable us to update that way, as we can do with other phones?
Just wondering that is all.
There is no software for Linux,
You can only update through PC Companion or Bridge for Mac
Thank you for your reply.
Not really the answer I was looking for though.
I realise that Sony don't provide software for Linux (poor show BTW), but could Sony provide the update Rom to enable us to update ourselves? This is all that PC Companion is doing (I assume), downloading the ROM and copying it to the SD card and then rebooting the phone to install it, so could we make it a manual process?

Your assumption is incorrect .
PC Companion directly flashes system files . You could very well perform the update without a memory card
Next time, remove your SD card prior updating and see if you are able to update successfully or not
You will have to get hold of a mac or pc to install ICS
But this is very strange problem. What can I do, when I have only Linux (Ubuntu 12.04, very useful system)? I have no money
to pay for Windows license, when I do not use it! We want linux update software or over air solution... This is tragedy for me, that Linux is not supported. 😞
And I have another Question - will be next updates over air or we must to use poor Windows or Mac??
I am not happy, Sony Erricsson was good, but... I will try another producer, for which is Linux MUCH important. 😞
Otherwise - Xperia pro is very good, only small memory is strange. Thanks for your work, BUT...
I am sorry, but you need PC or Mac, maybe one of your friend has, you could borrow and install, it takes less time, depending on the internet connection
But we Do Have PC's. Linux PC's!
What you mean is we need a "Windows" PC or MAC.
and there you go telling me to get my fact right, hur!
Sony needs to be more specific.
Liborse, sorry they will not be sending this update over there air, Sony say its to give customers the choice to update or not (providing they have the right OPERATING SYSTEM on their computer), but reading between the lines and the replies on this forum, Sony are not confident that ICS will perform well on our phones are are just fulfilling a promise to update 2011 Xperia phones.
I agree, we have PC! What do Nabeel think??? We have PC with great OS Linux. It is discrimination! Sony Sony, no fun from your "choice" of system. 😞
I am sorry, i meant a PC running windows
have you tried wine?
