Ok so its really close now to being able to see ICS on our phones, excited.
But for those of us not using Windows or Mac, how can we update?
Would it be possible to provide an update Rom to place on our SD cards, so enable us to update that way, as we can do with other phones?
Just wondering that is all.
I am also a Linux user and not happy with Sony. I bought my Xperia too fast and now I am disappointed. It is not only about the missing Linux support. The manuals are also bad and some features are not working as it should be. (for example, SMS Notification). I wanted to buy also a Xperia for my daughter. But in the future, I prefer to let the fingers away from all Sony products.
Thanks for all your persistance and hard work!
My wife has been complaining to me for about a month about wifi freezing and not being able to update her phone. Only after spending a few hours of reading and reading and reading - then finding this forum!
I simply can't believe you are unable to update your 'Linux based' handset with a Linux based machine!
Thank you for your detailed post - going to try updating her handset over the weekend.
And Mr Moderator - please pass this to your boss, you have another customer gone to the compeditor...
Well done Sony.
Sold my Xperia Z
My friiends Google Nexus 5 works
1. Fine on Linux
2. Did the update without any additional software
But i finally decided for an Jolla 100% Linux Support
0 Points for Sony, sorry. Providing an Linux Smartphone with no Support for the Linux Operating System is like using FreeBSD on a gaming console without caring a s*** for the FreeBSD community.
Oh wait, this is actually what you do...
