Urgent help needed, overseas and z1 cannot power up and cannot charge

Hi Sony, I have had my z1 since Jan 1 2014. I have been very happy using this phone and have been actively promoting it within my circle of friends and family . Today while on a trip short holiday trip, I was unable to power up my phone. I has searched through all the web suggestions, forums aetc but still cannot find a solution,
Symptom is
1 Cannot power up, tried reset with power + vol up, no effect.
2. Charge for at least 30 mins on both magnetic charger and USB, no light indication at all.
3. Tried checking sim, ad slots, found damp sim card, found it strange as I ensure the covers are always secured before I rinse it under running tap.
4 tried drying it after discovering dampness with hair dryer, not resolved.
5. How can Sony help?
6 is it a defect that water ingress?
7. Is repair covered if it is past the 1year?

Hi alexdon, I had left my z1 charging for 6 hours today, using USB cable to power direct, red led flashing whole time.
Trying with magnetic charger now, but no led seen when using it, so not sure if it is charging.

Sorry just realised quester was responding on the last few questions.

Charging on the magnetic dock now, no LEDs at all, feel the electrical static on the phone body though.

Could not get the pc companion to work as phone remains dark.

Any other suggestions?

How can Sony repair it or warranty the phone in this case if repair needed at service centre?

Firstly, I am utterly disappointed with the "waterproofed" Z1 phone-y, pun intended.

I was quite surprised to notice a damp SIM card after trying 2 days online with SONY Gurus to "revive" my dead Z1, while overseas, to no avail.

After arriving back home, still with some hope, I called the helpdesk for advise and was directed to the service center to try and see if possible to rescue it.

I rushed down to the SONY center at 313 Somerset, last chance, hoping to have some help, alas, the customer service attempted the same thing that I had tried since yesterday and then confirms that it is dead, either PCB or/and battery may be dead, charges, likely in the 400-500 range. excluding the $10.70 to investigate the cause before repair.

Warranty over, so only way is repair charges.

To add further "insult" to my phone care, I was told that likely that the waterproof covers were worn out and may not necessary keep the water out.

I have been using a magnetic docking to charge my Phone-y. and SIM, data and micro USB covers are hardly opened, except for the last 2 days to check the device.

It pains to have so much faith on the device, to even convince my close family and friends to buy Xperia Z series.

So no thanks to the costly repairs.

No thanks to a phone-y "water-proofed" device.

No thanks to SONY.

I will get another brand, never again.

If the warranty is over that means you have probably used the phone for 2 years. my experience is - any additional life after 2 years is a bonus 🙂

Market is different now (compared to 2-3 years ago). The budget phone range gives good enought features and very reasonable price.

Repairs are always expensive, even for a washing machine..

So get your data out of the phone and just get a new phone.

Hi Harry, nope, less than 2 years. I think I got it on jan 1 2014. Short-lived.
Or you mean that usual warranty is 2 years? Then I have been short-changed at the Singapore Sony service centre.
