2nd hand Z1 Compact missing all google services

I bought a 2nd hand  z1 compact that seems to be missing All google services & has no web browser.. I have done a factory reset using backup & reset option in settings...

Is there an issue with this handset or have I been sold a  non-google build or something ?  can I fix this/get it fixed ?

can i download & flash the phone with the latest build ?

Use PCC, it might be a Chinese variant

If PCC doesn't work then you could use flashtool

Have tried PCC, it reports that the android 4.3 on it is up to date and no updates pending ?

This doesn't sound right, thinking flashtool & an official sony European 4.4 ROM image ?

Most likely you have a Chinese version, which explains why you are missing all Google services; just flash the Nordic version.

It took a bit of fiddling but the Fone now is fully working android 4.4
