After Lollipop update and the latest Sony Music App Update the Music Volume can not be changed

I installed the Update to Android 5.0.2 supplied by Sony, no rooted phone or custom ROM installation.

On my phone there is no battery drain or memory leak problem, instead the phone runs longer with the advanced Stamina features.

But there are two problems:

  1. The phone stops downloading E-Mails after a few days over 3G or 4G connections, only a reboot solves this problem. This problem looks like a Lollipop related problem.
  2. Music played with the Music (former Walkman) App or the Google Play Music App is always on maximum volume (on the internal speaker and the headphone jack, did not test over Bluetooth connection yet), and the volume buttons only move the slider but this does not change the volume. This is realy anoying, as I use the phone as my portable music player. This problem appeared after the Update of the Walkman App to the Music App, the Walkman App did not include this bug.

Has anyone the same problem? Rebooting the phone does not solve the audio volume problem. I have installed the latest versions of the Sony Music App and the Google Play Music App. Is this a known bug that will be fixed?

Open the Music/walkman app > settings > audio settings > sound effects > speaker settings, which settings do you have?

also which settings do you have preset for the headphones?

do you experience the same sound issue while on safe mode?

I noticed that some apps tend to hang and the phone response is generally slower.
Sometimes it says android systems not responding.... Blah blah blah
It's annoying, can it be rectified pls?

Hi @uliwooly, I have the following settings: The speaker settings are Headphones (General), this setting was already active in the Walkman App. Clear Audio is disabled, also the Normalization. The Equalizer is set to a user defined pattern, but this was also done earlier in the Walkman App, before the App was updated to the Sony Music App. In safe mode the volume control works and after rebooting to normal mode the volume control was also working normal again. Strange!

@uliwooly, any chance to figure out what app? I have installed only a few apps and none of them was running except the standard Google apps and the Sony Music App.

It could've been a taskiller, antivirus, the only way to find out is trial and error.

@uliwooly Neither of these apps are installed, only Runtastic, Wikipedia and a hand full others. Will try to remeber which apps I used when it comes again. 🙂 Thanks a lot for the tip with the save mode!
