Email incorrectly dated

Particular emails are being dated as 01/01/1970. Hence they go to the end of my folder.

Strange. You could try to configure your email account in a 3rd party email application/client like K-9 mail:

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.fsck.k9

See if you get the same behavior or if it is behaving differently.

Hi and welcome to the community! Since you're new please be sure that you have checked out our Discussion guidelines.

What kind of email account is you have added in your phone? POP3, IMAP or ActiveSync?

Check that you have time and date correctly set in your phone.

I have tried configuring both POP3 and IMAP the result is the same. The problem does not occur with all emails, only particular ones. So far I have not noticed a pattern or similarities in the emails that are affected.

I have not been unable to replicate this myself and given that you have tired multiple types of configurations with the same result I can really only advise attempting a software repair:

Backing up your handset

To back up your phone using PC Companion
1. Go to Support to install PC Companion on a Windows computer.
2. When installed, start PC Companion on the computer.
3. Connect your phone to the computer using a USB cable.
4. Click Start under Backup & Restore.
5. Follow the on-screen instructions.

Exactly what contents will be backed up may differ depending on phone model.
You can view detailed information about this as you follow the steps in the Backup & Restore wizard.

Running the software repair

Before you start you have to download the PC Companion software  and install it on your PC.

Once installed on your PC, double-click the PC Companion icon on your desktop to start the update.

Please ensure your phone is powered off and not connected to the PC when you begin this process. You are not required to connect the phone until after step 10.

1. Install and open PC Companion then select Support Zone.

2. Phone Software Update.

3. Start.

4. Repair Phone

5. Continue

6. Accept data removal

7. Next

8. Wait for prepare

9. Select Phone

10. Follow the connection steps

Dear Support,

This did not work.

In fact it created another bug! Now I cannot use the songs on my SD Card as a ringtone. I can view and play content on my SD Card however the option of browsing your SD Card when setting a ringtone is no longer available!

Hi,

As far as I understand the email doesn't get it time stamp from the phone, the email client gets this information from the server so I first of all suggest that you contact your email provider to see if they have more information about this.

When it comes to the issue you experience with the ringtone pick, clear defaults for media storage under settings > apps > all > media storage > clear defaults. When picking ringtone after you have done this, select to use sound picker to complete the action. To browse your SD card, press the note in the upper right corner.

Dear Support,

One of the emails that are incorrectly dated is a daily alert I have been receiving for the last 5 years. It works perfectly well on my blackberry and Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini so it seems unlikely that this problem from our email provider whom we have been using for the last 7 years.

Do you have any other suggestions?

There is still another issue with the email which I shall treat as a separate post so there is no confusion.

PS - Thanks the ringtone pick solution worked.
