External dictaphone mic on Z2?

Hi

I recently purchased an external mic Olympus TP-8 Telephone Recording Dictaphone Microphone

Ive plugged it into my Z2 but nothing is detected.  Is this to be expected?  Ive tried a couple of recording apps but its as if the microphone is not plugged in.  Ive tested the mic on my PC and its fine.

I'm using Lollopop on an EE device.

It's probably a compatibility issue.
