How to copy files from a locked XperiaZ with broken screen

Hi,

I have an Xperia Z, with a cracked screen that is not responding to touch anymore.

Tried to copy files from Phone to PC, but I'm not able to see the sd-card or files.

Tried the PC Companion. It sees the phone, but say's it has to be unlocked. Which is not possible anymore.

I also tried MyPhoneExplorer (which seems to have spyware on board according TrendMicro), but also no success.

Please help, because I need my 1100 pictures....

Kind regards, Jelmer

There is a chrome browser extension called vysor.

Install and enable that then open the extension in chrome and connect your phone to pic via usb and the vysor extension mirrors your phone screen on your pc and you can control everything with your mouse and see it on your of screen.

Hi All! I HAVE A SOLUTION IF YOU HAVE BROKEN YOUR SCREEN AND IT IS FULLY SMASHED AS IN CANT SEE THE SCREEN.

So... I dropped my phone and cracked the screen which left me without being able to use touch.

I googled a solution which led to the OGT cable. WIth this i was able to use the phone as an ok camera and if enough time was available i could send a whatsapp using the mouse eventually.

Things got worse, i had been using the phone as a camera for a while with loads of pics on, and one day i pulled it out of my bag and the whole screen was gone with just a couple of coloured lines on the screen. I was unable to see any unlock pin number what so ever. (this wont work if you have a pattern pin)

To get my remaining photos off I did the following and it was super successful:

1.   Turn the volume up fully on the phone till it beeps

2.   Take the OGT cable and connect the mouse

3.   Use the mouse and do a drag motion (holding left mouse button)  from bottom to top. This

      reveals the pin pad.

4.   Next disconnect the mouse from the OGT and connect a USB keyboard.

5.   Press CAPS lock light to check keyboard is powered and proceed to enter your pin. Listen out for

each digit entered then press return and listen for the unlocking tone. AND YOU'RE IN!!!!!!!!

6.   Please note I have a Apple Mac and I'm using Android File Transer program which makes things

       super easy.

I hope this helps someone, this may have been posted by someone else already but i didn't read

every page here. Good luck!!!! 🙂

Hi,

My screen has shattered and though it is still visible the touchscreen doesn't work.

I have managed to connect mouse to access the phone however I cannot backup using xperia companion as when I take out the USB mouse and connect it to the computer it prompts me to choose options in connecting with the computer I cannot select an option without a mouse connection.

Any solutions?

Thanks

Hello Every One I have a Solution for the people how's facing problem with broken Screen and because of it YOu cant Unclock your phone and cannot access your Data this is only work if Your Other mobile function is working properly

Instructions:

1. You need a mouse (Wireless/wired).

2. You will need an OTG cable.

3. Connect the mouse with your mobile phone using OTG cable.

4. Now you can Unlocked your phone Using mouse.

With mouse you will be able to operate all function of your mobile phone (With broken Screen) once it will unclock then you can connect your mobile to Your pC and get the internal data

This 100% saved my sanity. I broke my Xperia four days ago, saw this forum, bought the USB OTG cord from Amazon, and just used it to control the screen again. I have work photos on there that could not be replicated and was freaking out!!!! I am so thankful right now!!!!!!! Grinning_Face Grinning_Face

How about if the screen is blacked out totally? And unable to see what youre doing on screen? Any tips or tricks?

I'm unable to see anything on screen of my z5 after having one corner lift after having screen replaced once before, the other has lifted from a drop, suspected digitiser fault.
I intend to get the xz premium in the next few days (as had a number of issues with my z5... scratched lense, phone gets too hot(common I understand) just getting phones files that aren't on it's sd card is all I really want Slightly_smiling_Face
The charging port is also pretty dicky too which makes things more difficult.
Is there any way to do this myself or would I need to get a tech to have a look or even repair it to do this?

Thankyou in advance (diehard Sony user)
Matt.

You need a mouse, an OTG lead and a charged battery. Plug the mouse into the lead and into the phone. Hold the power button and volue down together and keep it pressed. When the phone eventually boots up again the mouse will then work as a pointer allowing the screen to be operated... Worked that out eventually!
