Internet only works on WIFI - 4g icons etc disappeared

Hi guys,

I have had a dig around online and can't seem to find a solution to my problem. My Sony Experia Z3 Compact had been working fine (probably for around 5 months) until recently. For some reason I can only access the Internet if I connect to WIFI - I don't get any 3g/4g etc icons at the top of the phone anymore say when I'm outside of WIFI. This problem has only just occured but it has been about two weeks now and it hasn't sorted itself out... I am fairly tech smart and have looked at all the obvious places in the Settings but can't seem to sort it.

I did master reset my phone about 3 weeks ago (because it was being a bit slow / got annoyed and overreacted ha) but everything seemed fine after that (I think) and it has just suddenly started to play up on the Internet. The phone seems absolutely fine except for this one issue. I would just accept the problem because I normally use WIFI but having 4g sometimes can be a lifesaver so think its needed! ha

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The 4G icon will disappear while WiFi its on, that's normal, you can still make and receive calls, and messages.

 Thanks for your reply! I can still make and receive calls that hasn't changed thankfully - the problem is if I am out in say a major city I won't have any Internet whatsoever unless I am logged into someones WIFI... before I could always go on the Internet using 3g/4g etc but now I don't have this option (the icons won't even show at the top of my phone) whereas it did before...

Have you downloaded and installed the mobile data and MMS Internet settings - Settings then More then Internet settings - Click accept then select your network and assuming you are connected via wifi it should download and install the settings needed for 4G to work

Great, pretty sure that has sorted it - I live in the sticks so no 3g around but the bar icon now has a little H above it when WIFI is off which wasn't there before!

Knew it was going to be something simple! I suppose when I master reset it didn't automatically download the settings (Ill remember that next time)

Glad you got it sorted and no the settings aren't auto downloaded you have to do that manually as above

Hi,

I have the same problem on my SONY Xperia Z3 Dual:

No mobile internet when disabling WIFI or exiting a WIFI zone. However, the mobile internet works when I start the phone with WIFI disabled.

I tried the following without success:

1) resend and installed configuration SMS for Internet, MMS, and WAP settings from my mobile service provider.

2) downloaded the Internetsettings as suggested above. I was asked for which net provider I want to download the Internetsettings, and chose the general net of my service provider)

Can you help?
