Microphone Problem

Hello,

i hope anybody can help me. I bought my Z5 compact last week and now i have problems with the microphone. When somebody call me, the other person cant hear me or hear me very feeble. It is like from a far distance speaking. When I turn to speaker, then the other person can hear me perfectly. I dont know what to do.

To start in Safe mode doesnt solve the problem. I dont have the possibility to turning off the microphone noise suppression.

What can I do? Who can help me?

My Android-Version is 5.1.1 .

Thanks for your help.

Hi, the one who talks to me hearing terrible echo from my phone z5 compact too. I hv tried disable Google OK, safe mode, factory reset, neither of the way help.

This happened after I sent my hp to Sony Service Center to repair the phone side camera which do not function properly... I wonder the repair center did perform an overall test before returning the phone to the customers.

I have the same proplem.

People hear me very badly during phonecalls, when I press speaker they hear me perfectly, also when I use a bluetooth headset.

I dont have a phonecase, Ive disabled Ok Google From any screen, started the phone in safe Mode, changed voice equalizer, tried prettymuch everything that Ive found googling this proplem but without any success.

Sony can you please help me? I really like my phone but without this basic feature I cant really use it

I am having the same problem... dialing out with no speakerphone, people couldn't here me, was VERY concerning when had to call 911 a few weeks back. And... if I engage speakersphone, the other party hears themselves echoing very loudly. MyZ5 compact is currently with Sony repair in Ontario for the second time. I don't have much faith, I think all they do is hardware tests to determine correct functionality, there is no troubleshooting. But we'll see.  The Sony support guy at least heard the echo while I yelled at him about it.

I said the same as others have said here; this phone FAILS on basic phone functionality. It's so pathetic and sad, because I love the shape, the feel, the size of the phone and I'm quite happy with the camera, music playback, etc.  But hey, it's a PHONE as well and you shouldn't feel afraid about making calls.

Will report back when I get phone back. I wrote a big note all over my RMA to Sony warranty saying, DON'T JUST DO HARDWARE TESTS, MAKE SOME CALLS AND REPRODUCE WHAT I'M REPORTING.  hehe.

I received the phone back from 2nd trip to warranty center. The speakerphone echo problem is still there.

I have contacted Sony Support again and am getting a third RMA. I have requested a new phone, see what happens.

I have exactly the same problem with my Z5 premium, which basically renders the phone useless as it's not a phone any more!

Seriously, this thread started in January and Sony still haven't sorted the problem, I'm never getting a Sony again.

I feel the same way. I haven't even received shipping labels for the third RMA. I have contacted Support three times and have been told it's being evaluated. So... I send the phone in twice... zero repair, exact same problem, the third time, they are playing games and not sending shipping labels... makes me feel like I'm being a troublemaker, crying wolf, etc.

Worse: the phone has come back the second time from repair buggy. Lots of random force closes now. Yes I can perform a software repair but seriously?  Coming back from a repair center and I have to do a software repair myself? It's not a magic wand, Sony, your software repair.

I really don't want to send the phone in a third time but... I was told it's up to the Repair Center only to make the judgement call whether to provide a new handset or not.

I was a fan of these compact phones from the Z1.  I waited until the Z5C cause the specs were finally great in my mind.

Everything else about it is great. Except the PHONE function, which fails MISERABLY.  Mind you there is a workaround: don't ever use speakerphone.

I got exactly the same problem! This problem started a couple of weeks ago. The weird thing is that the problem occurs about 30 seconds into the call and sometimes fixes itself when i blow into the microphone..

Thing's I've tried:

  • Making calls with various call apps - failed
  • Testing microphone in diagnostics - no problem here(?!)
  • Starting phone in safe mode and testing mic - failed
  • Speakerphone - works without any problem
  • Disabling Google Now - failed
  • Hard Reset - failed

Sony Tech couldn't fix it because they say there's nothing wrong with the phone. But they can hardly expect me to blow into the microphone every few minutes just to have a conversation over the telephone. Pls fix this!!

Hello,

I have also the same problems, that the people can hear me very badly, they always ask If I can speak louder or If I can go nearer to the microphone.

Does anyone have a solution for this problem? Because this is really annoying.
