text message thumbnail photo

I can't change the photo in the text message thumbnail. I can in the phonebook. Any ideas?

Try settings-apps-all,go to contacts and messages,force stop and clear data for both. Make sure you have a backup of both before. Restart.

are you using a third party messaging app? are you syncing your google or facebook contacts ?
