Turn on the phone without the battery

Hello,

I have an Xperia ZR and in the morning I found it dead. On the previous day I washed it, so I suspect that the water could damage parts of the phone and/or the battery.

When I remove the battery and plug it to the wall charger, the Sony Logo starts appearing and disappearing every 4-5 seconds. When I press the power button, nothing happens.

Could someone please check what happens with a undamaged phone when you remove the battery and then plug it to the charger? Are you able to turn on the device and operate it normally without the battery? If the behaviour is as I described above, I'll try to buy a new battery - I hope my phone is not completely damaged!

Thank you

Tom

Success! A new battery solved the problem and the phone works fine.

Good to know that it may rescue your phone after dropping it into water.

Remove both sim and sd cards, connect the phone to a wall charger, press and hold power and volume up for 10 seconds, let it charge for two or three hours

Thanks for the advice, but unfortunately it didn't help.

When I hold power and volume up buttons, I don't see any effects (nothing on the screen, no sounds, no vibrations). Anyway, I left it plugged to the wall charger for 5 hours (the red LED was on). Then nothing happens when I press the power button or hold the power+volume up buttons.

The only activity that I see is the Red LED when connected to a charger and the Sony Logo on the screen (appearing/disappearing every 4-5 seconds) when the phone without the battery is being charged.

Any other advice highly appreciated! (I also ordered a new battery - I will keep you posted when it arrives and I will try to boot my phone)

Thanks,

Have a good day!

Hi ThomArn,

Can you please tell me where you bought your battery from?

I'm looking for a quality replacement, as mine is 18 months old, and starting to fade already.

(I'm in the UK).

Cheers,
