To play devil's advocate

..does it really matter if it's Gorilla Glass or not? Some of us obviously bought the phone with the understanding that that there is no Gorilla Glass on the Z2 Smiling_Face_with_Sunglasses

A late reply by i got confirmed that the back is also Gorilla so it's Gorilla 3 on front and back.

It will be scratched at some points as Corning said themselves, even a clear glass bottle can be scratched by key or steel even if it's still a clear sand and high temp material, so I guess the sand itself is mineral harder than flexible gorilla. Gorilla is not made with diamond and it will scratch in some time in specific conditions.
samsung S6 has same scratch problem even built with Gorilla 4 glass, a lot posts now on samsung phorum with scratched brand new devices, although I think Z2 is still harder than brand new S6 model so I'm happy that older specs win here.
Also i think 80% of buyers already set up with H+ screen protectors and other scratch resistant polimers so it's just a curious thing to know.

On Xperia Z, Sony used on front Dragon trail glass made by Mitsubishi alongwith with shatter proof coating with SONY logo on it, and Gorilla glass on the back. Can you explain which glas is more scratch resistant. Gorilla or Dragon trai. Because a question comes in mind that why Sony used 2 types of glas in Xperia Z. Dragontrail is more harder thats why Sony used it on the front for securing or protecting the screen/ display toouch panel. Then why it is not exersized in Z2, Z3 and Z3 plus? Just tel us dragontrail or gorila, which one is the toughest?

This is what I know: The Z1 had Dragontrail only, and if you say Sony is not listed on Dow Corning's list of Gorilla Glass users, then it's probably safe to say that it's still Dragontrail on the Z3 (manufactured by Asahi Glass, not Mitsubishi). And yay for that!!

This is my experience of Dragontrail vs Gorilla. Gorilla is more scratch resistant, because it's harder. But it shatters far more easily, because the hardness makes it more brittle (ask yourself how many iPhones you know of with broken screens - I know many). Dragontrail on the other hand is not as scratch resistant but far more robust. Because it's not as hard, it's also not as brittle. I have dropped my Z1 onto concrete, ceramic tiles and tar (pavement) on no less than 5 occasions over the last two years, from chest height, without any issues. The screen was fine every time, and the phone still works fine (only a few scratches on the aluminium frame). Suffice it to say that if Sony ever moves away from Asahi's Dragontrail, I will move away from Sony. I am sticking with them, because to date the Z1 is the best smart phone I have ever owned, and it is also the most robust. Unbelievably tough! I think the Dragontrail has a huge role to play in that. I would rather have a few scratches on my screen, than have it shatter every time I drop it onto a hard surface ...

Whatever glass its very fragile.I dropped mine maybe 20 cm on a table edge and got hundreds of cracks on display and a non working phone.... Anguished_Face

I had the same with three devices (Z2) w/o dropping or any other users fault. One repaired on warranty terms w/o charge and two rejected.
