USB OTG Ethernet issue

Hello, I found a post where I saw that it was possible connection through one Ethernet cable and a USB OTG ethernet adapter, specifically here:

http://www.davebennett.tech/connect-android-to-ethernet/

I tried this on my Nexus 7 2013 6.0.1 and it has worked properly. No need to do anything more to remove the wifi connection and get an icon like this > .... < to confirm the internet.

Same cables, otg I connect my Z5 and I'm finding OTG system. I said nothing is found, in fact not the current LED lights ethernet adapter. It is a firmware failure or simply no power? Anyone else happens or you can try to confirm?

A greeting.

Sorry for my writing in English if it is not correct or not understandable.

@ryuseiken

You might want to contact your Local support regarding this.

Hey, no one else has been able to test the question? I still think it's a matter of firmware enabled there is not something in my Nexus 7 runs smoothly.

You could try with one of those "splitted" Otg cables which supply power to the discrete device. There are many on online markets and they are cheap.

Maybe it is only a requested power problem.

Hi,

I have a Xperia Z5 Premium Dual E6883 and I used to connect it to ethernet using Sony's OTG cable, until I updated the mobile to Marshmallow. But after the upgrade, the phone is no more detecting this usb to ethernet adapter (from plugable.com).

I contacted Sony support multiple times, but no proper response.

Recently another update came to my mobile, still no difference - it was a good feature to connect to ethernet to download all the data heavy app updates and attachment downloads, photo uploads etc. But it is no more possible.

But I hear that the stock android phones are detecting usb to ethernet adapter on OTG. It's really disappointing to see that Sony disabled this feature, after I ended up spending $700 for this phone.

Nope - fed up of chasing Sony support, I returned the phone. Ended switching back to my iPhone - which connects to ethernet (though I have to use two cables and a USB hub) and also got a Microsoft Lumia 950XL (got a free docking station as well and connects to Ethernet with a single USB adapter - works like a charm, especially because the docking station charges the device, unlike iPhone).

Sony lost a loyal customer.

I think sony support can not really help.

They too busy avoiding support and ingore feedback from common user.

They running the path of Kodak. (Closing Soon)

I had similar experience on z3 after updating to a specific lollipop version earlier version if 5.0.2 would work after some other update the ethernet functionality was gone so i had to downgrade there is a post on youtube how to downgrade all xperia you need to find correct firmware not very satisfactorly method though as the update should have brought more stability
