Hi Sony,
I've got this touch screen iresponsive on the top and bottom. I was not able to pulldown the notification and shortcuts menu when in portrait mode. Now even the bottom part of the screen starting become iresponsive. Pressing the back/menu/taskmenu starting to mulfunction.
Please help me fix this issue.
Hey,
I'm another Z3 Compact user whose pixels on the top of the touchscreen became unresponsive. The warranty expired 2 months ago, of course.
Sadly, this will probably be my last Sony smartphone for the time being.
Now I'm just waiting for more parts of the touch screen to stop responding.
Here the same problem. Two months ago my Z3 compact worked as it should be. At that moment I bought a new Sony phone. Yesterday I wanted to re-install the Z3 compact in order to give it to my daughter. At that moment I discovered that the top 0,5 cm of the screen is not responsing. Swiping is also not always functioning allright. And when restarting the phone I cannot even type the PIN code since at restart the top half of the screen does not function allright. This all means that I cannot use the phone anymore!!!! Reset to factory settings does not help. Repair with Sony companion does not work. Cleaning the screen / removing SD card and all the other tips doe not work. And when I look at the different Sony forums I discovered that I am not the only one! WHEN IS SONY GOING TO FIX THIS?!
Hi Everyone,
I understand that it may be frustrating, but if the troubleshooting mentioned in this thread does not help, I would advice that you have your device sent to an authorized service center.
The easiest way to have your device sent to an authorized service center is to get in touch with your Local support, as they are well informed regarding the local service routines, consumer laws and warranty terms in your market.
Hello.I have the same problem.I am is from Romania. My phone is 2 year and 11 month old.The notification bar on the top is was broken in Octomber.I tried reset, companion,no result. Some time for a short period (20 seconds) after reboot i can access the notification bar .These days the cover do not close the screen anymore.SmartCover is original Sony scr26 for Sony Z3c.I thing Sony must to do something for as.
it's disgusting, I agree with you, I have Z3 Compact after only 1 months of use first issue: headphone jack doesn't work in any way, you just plug in and the sound still go through speakers. Made a research, found other forum like this one with plenty of betrayed fellas with the same audio jack issue: only solution, sending phone to customer service.
After months of hesitation 'cause the phone works good if you don't need the jack and I hate having to send it for an issue like that due to a constructor failure. Tons of users with the same issue..
Sony takes no position but asking to send it back for repair. Finally phone sent, repaired, and in use again..
just one month later the issue with the top of the screen, weeks after the bottom also is gone, EXACTLY LIKE ALL THE OTHERS!! Don't want to send it now, cause it's ridiculous! And this time I m out of warranty and I should pay for another faulty behaviour and choice of the constructor!!?
Again Sony takes no position!! Same official stupide advice: send to customer service.
But hey! my phone was used only 20% of the normal use one can do in 3 years of life: was used only to surf net and play music at home, like a mobile mini pc, never fallen, WHAT is going on SONY!???
This is faulty material or firmware, they don't even tell you, but they know, we all bought faulty products and they know, only strategy to cover their SHAME is NOT ASSUMING THEIR FAULT.
And we have to learn a good, vital workaround (the one of turning on glove feature) not from Sony but from the users!!! But the Forum here is held and still public with THEIR FAULTINESS, KEPT ONLINE BY SONY ITSELF, they show the faultiness of their products but they don't take position and don't assume it.
So Z3Compact for thousand of users all around the world is a product faultiness experience to live from Sony customers for all the product life.
Paradox.
Hello everyone
Thank you for your many posts which unfortunately confirm that there is a problem of obsolescence programmed or manufacturing. Our posts are just the tip of the iceberg because I think that many people have simply thrown their Z3C to buy another without manifesting themselves in any way.
In my case I have never used the headphone jack, so I could not see this problem for cons I had problems with bluetooth: I bought a first bluetooth speaker with which he ' was impossible to listen to radio or music without intermittent breaks. I thought it came from the compound and I sent it back to buy another from another brand.
It was a little better but the sound was interrupted from time to time. I started to tell myself that the pb may have come from the phone and not from the speakers.
I was right because I did a test with my son's Asus smartphone and I could listen to the radio for hours without any interruption in the same conditions of proximity of the wifi source with the Sony.
Unlike the problem of high and low inoperative, the earphone jack and bluetooth do not prevent the use of the smartphone but it is a little light from a Sony hardware.
I think Sony is bending his back and waiting for it to be
Hello. I've had my Z3C for almost two years now. Had always worked perfectly and was so satisfied with my phone. First issue I ever had as with the slot that I had to replace. Second issue occured around two months ago. I was using my phone casually until I noticed that my home buttons were not working. I was so pissed. I found a workaround but I was so frustrated. Around a week later, a way worse issue occured: the whole screen started malfunctioning. Way too sensitive and starts going nuts by itself.
This will be my last Sony phone EVER. Question is now to my fellow sufferers: to whom shall I turn? Apple, Samsung? I don't want something failing me like this.
Hi everyone,
had Z3C for about 2 and a half years, no problems with it until 2 months ago when the notification pull down stopped working properly and only work from the lock screen.
Then last month the home three buttons stopped working too. Tried reset it from PC companion but did not work, tempted to try again but restoring all data is a real pain and waste of time if it doesn't change anything, as seen from other experiences.
Today I tried to share a photo on Instagram and couldn't because it does not let me press the 'Next' on the top right corner when editing/cropping photos before posting. Given the background I doubt it's an Instagram fault.
I'm really not tempted to send it to support if it's going to cost that much for a repair that may not even last that long. I also do not have another smartphone I could use in the meantime and for a bit more I could get a new one I suppose.
I really liked Sony and the Z3C until now and was not envy of any other smartphone so I am really disappointed.
I hope I'm not being too cheeky if I ask you guy any suggestions for a new smartphone since Sony support is being useless anyway.
Not too keen on iPhone and Samsung mostly for their prices.
Bravo, expressed my feelings in the best possible words, and to be honest anything the Sony guys say is so stupid that most people don't reply back. A fifth grader would know or at least answer in a better way, all they ever say are the things one would have already tried. What a shame. After buying a 500 euro z3 compact I retreated back to buying a cheap Chinese phone which BTW has not disappointed me though the camera but then the Sony has nothing but, a trade off I am willing to make for reliability.
A strange thing is the problems started exactly after 2 years, first the top goes then the bottom and now I am waiting for the rest LOL. Never buying a Sony again.
Wow, that is an execellent response.
