Xperia Z3 won't play any video

I have a Sony Xperia Z3 D6653, running OS 5.0.2.
I am unable to play video. This is video from any application I have installed, Facebook, YouTube, even video advertising embedded in games doesn't play.
I have tried clearing application data, I have tried a factory reset, I have tried using the repair feature in Sony PC Companion.
The problem persists regardless of whether I'm using wifi or mobile data.
Apart from buying another phone (non-Sony), I don't know what else to do.

Go to settings-more-networks-APN-tap on your APN,remove proxy and port.

Hi,

If the above suggestions does not work, do you receive any error message while trying to play a video? Have you tried with different connections such as Wi-Fi connection?

Proxy settings are already empty, and yes the problem persists regardless of whether I'm using wifi or mobile data

Facebook
Cannot play video
Sorry, but an unknown error occurred while trying to play this video

YouTube
There was a problem while playing
Touch to retry

Video on websites doesn't return an error, it just doesn't play

Try to play them with Data, if you have a taskiller or antivirus > uninstall the app > restart the phone > check again.

No antivirus or task killer is installed and as stated above the the problem persists for both wifi only, data only and wifi with data connections
