I have a brand new Z3 with the factory image and it is not working with the Microsoft Wireless Display Adaptor (miracast). The Z3 finds the device and it tries to connect for a few seconds. After that it gives the following error, "Could not turn on screen mirroring. The output device is not ready or does not support HDCP".
I know the adapter is working correctly because I tried it on laptops, HTC One (M7), Samsung S5 and OnePlus One.
The adapter does support HDCP.
Does anyone have the same issue and any workarounds?
Solved! Go to Solution.
Our developers have done further investigation of this and found that the issue is that Microsoft Wireless Display Adapter is not fully compliant with the specification for HDCP 2.2.
However, our engineers have made a workaround for this issue so that it will work anyway. This workaround will be rolled out with the update to Android 5 for Z2 and Z3.

Sorry to hear that you having issue with screen mirroring. Have you done any modification to your phone, like unlocking the boot loader?
I have not unlocked the boot loader. I did a factory reset on it, but still no luck.

I have the z3 dual with the same error message!
and.. my phone is 100% stock
I had a similar problem with my Z3 and a Belkin Miracast video adapter. I was able to get it to work by:
- Plugged the Belkin adaptor to HDMI1 input. This way the adapter can be configured differently than the default, using the TV remote controller.
- I don't remember which options I changed but after screwing around with it for a little while I was able to mirror. There are not that many options to change.
Hope this helps.
The information was forwarded and after tests, it seems like these units are not compatible. But we will look closer into it to see if there is anything we can do from our side to make them compatible in the future.
