Hello All,
I hope you can help me with below matter.
I am "almost" a very happy new Xperia Z5 owner. After reading the forum for the last 4 weeks I have finally bought Xperia Z5 only 2 days ago. After moving from iPhone5 I have been very satisfied until I figured out that accelerometer (and auto rotate) does not work at all.
My investigation went so far as following:
- in settings -> screen -> auto rotate is switched ON and despite that it does not work
- in the service mode *#*#7378423#*#* -> Service tests -> Accelerometer -> the "ball" in the image is ALWAYS on the left side (meaning: there is no way to move the ball to the right side no matter how I move or twist the phone, see pics in the bottom of this post)
- in Safe Mode - the issue is the same
- after Repairing the phone via PC Companion - the issue is the same
- Gyroscope works fine
I am totally out of ideas now and are about to book a service at Sony (never had to do it so quick which leaves a bad first impression, unfortunately).
If any of you had similar issue and have some clue on how to fix it, please let me know.
Thank you
Sylwester

Hi @sly_
Welcome to the community.
I would suggest checking to see if these issues are coming from the hardware of the handset. We have a build in feature called Xperia Diagnostics to help with this.
Could you let us know what the results of that are?
Hi @uliwooly
Thank you for reply.
I am using Style Cover Window SCR44 however accelerometer does not work even if the phone is without cover.
Hi @John-BR
Thank you for reply.
I have ran Xperia Diagnostics and please see my comments:
- Accelerometer - FAIL - the test says that phone should vibrate when it moves or so. Well the phone vibrates all the time, even if lying still on the table. And that explain the "ball" test from Service Mode, that is always "sticked" to the left side.
- Giroscope - PASS - I was able to mvoe the ball through the maze.
I am having a gut feeling that something is wrong with the accelerometer sensor... Am I correct?
It does unfortunately seem that way.
At this point the next step would be to have your phone examined at an authorised service center.
Here comes an update.
I went to the store where I bought the phone, explained/showed the problem and as it was less than 7 days since I bought it (+ it has been treated as DOA), the phone has been replaced with new Xperia Z5. I have right away tested accelerometer in the store and it works.
I just hope won't find any new issues and will just enjoy it.
Thank you for replies.

Does it work on safe mode ?
settings > display > when device is rotated > rotate the contest of the screen
settings > about phone > diagnostics > test > test the phone.
