Slightly disappointed that it has no Qi capabilities. This would have been the icing on the cake.
I go caseless on all my phone. This would be an ugly solution. If they release a second phone this year with wireless charging and 5G, I'll consider upgrading from XZ2.
Just thinking, but could it be that wireless charging is not compatible with the new safe charging tech that Sony have added to this new range of phones? If so, I think it a worthwhile sacrifice though I will miss it.
No wireless charging. Bye, bye Sony! Big mistake! This is gonna cost you.
Typing my reply from my beautiful, new Xperia 1. It is amazing. However, I hoped to add wireless charging and bought a type-C pad but it isn't working. Any thoughts or tips greatly appreciated
Well obviously you can't use wireless charging with a phone that doesn't have the hardware to support it. It works by transfering energy with inductive charging, but for that the phone needs to have the induction hardware inside, which the Xperia 1 doesn't.
Pleased to say I bought a qi receiver pad,a black case and it's working well. Not fast charge but sufficient for what I need (an overnight charge means full charge and that's enough for a day).
This is why I'm going with the Xperia XZ3.
I've had Sony phones my whole life.the wireless charging isn't an issue for me,if the wireless charger is plugged into the socket and your phone sits on it it'll be in the same place/position anyway surely not
I use magnetic charging plug adaptor. Just clip s straight on.
Like this.
But is the charger not plugged in to the mains?
