Messages App notification dot

I don't know if this is an Android issue or Xperia 1 specific, but has anyone else noticed that when you get a text message and the messages app shows a notification dot, the dot doesn't disappear after you've read the text?

The only way I've found to get rid of it is to reboot, which is a bit of a pain in the ****.  Has anyone else noticed this?

Hi @Chippy_boy

This is happening since last year and with different devices and brands.  You can get rid of the dot by just tap and hold the Messages App icon

Thanks for the info.

The tap and hold, doesn't work for me however. Don't know why.

I was on a Pixel XL prior to getting the Xperia 1, and I guess it being Google's own phone, it didn't have this bug!

Yes, I have noticed it a couple of times as well. Very annoying.

@Chippy_boy

I can replicate this bug

I have the same issue.     I'll try "mark as read" a few times to see if I can replicate this intentionally.   It happens to me daily and have to restart the XPERIA 1 to make it disappear though it doesn't always work.     So maybe it goes away after viewing/reading the message that was marked as read.

So nice to have a $950 field test device, again.

I should've leaned my lesson with Sony with my Z1 and Z3 by not buying flagships on day one but to instead wait until bugs get sorted out.

It happend to me 10 times in more then 2 months. When I miss message and read it later notification 1 stays too. Only restart helps. This is frustrating. I had to restart the phone 10 times till I bought it. Fix this ASAP!

It has been escalated/reported, you can do so by contacting your local support, lets wait, I hope it's something that can be fixed with a small update.

It happens with my phone too. Clearing cash and force stopping the app don't help. Restart helps. But I don't want to restart my phone often, so I wait until I receive another new message, and in most times when I open new message, the notification dot disappears.
