Sony to discontinue more apps

OMG I opened Album app today and it redirected me here:

https://support.sonymobile.com/global-en/

They will remove e-mail app, how bad!

Really, less and less reasons to buy sony xperias since there will be no sony in their products just stock ugly Android... no wonder why people are switching the brand. So many mistakes and they continue to digninto it...

Overall too small batteries, underspecxed for RAM and ROM, camera worse than competition and always with issues (no 21:9 pics in main camera, 4k stabilisation issue), overpriced, weak marketing, degraded user experience (and continue with e-mail app etc.), No communication with client. This cannot end happily.

Sony E-mail app was very good. I am disapointed to see that because this is my main e-mail app. Now I'll have to look for alternatives because Gmail app is trash.

Hardly a big problem.

An app doesn't work on the 5, there are plenty of other pop email apps out there.

It was hardly feature packed for what it was.

And second, only the link to Amazon backup is being removed, but you can still use the Amazon backup service through their own app.

Regarding your comment about not being able to take 21:9 photo's, there's no point having that feature as all it would be is a crop of a 4:3 photo. If you really want a 21:9 photo, just take a standard 4:3 photo and crop the top and bottom off in a third party app, you'll get the same result and no difference in resolution.

....And take it with a RAW capable camera app..

Far better scale for post editing, and recolouring if needed. Relieved_Face

It's a pity that Sony's Email-App is gone.

If you use an Exchange account it was always a great alternative.

Personally, I use Aqua Mail but it's a program you have to pay for.

In my opinion, if you send a few hundreds Euros for a phone it should at least have a good Email-App for Exchange. But that's how it is: Neither Nokia nor Motorola have their own mail-apps anymore, they all rely on Gmail which is a shame because it's trash and should be deactivated right from the start.

I amore and more disappointed with what sony does with Xperias, the crapoy stock android that ruins last pieces of 'unique experience' Xperias had in its glory times. Then lack of communication, bad hardware (rom, ram, battery, cameras) etc.

There is no question why so many people left this brand...

Hi @azzido2

As the text in the image you attached explained, The Sony Email app is not supported in Xperia 5 and onward, and is not available on Google Play for these products. You can instead use the Gmail app, the Outlook app or other 3rd party email applications of your choice.

When it comes down to the Backup - powered by Amazon, It is as @RottenFoxBreath said only the link to the feature in the Album app that will be removed. You can still continue to use the Amazon Photos service, either via the Amazon Photos app in your device or via the Amazon Drive website.

I hope that answered some of your questions.
