I've just switched from Sky to Virgin and have a minor problem.
Everytime I turn over the virgin v6 box to another channel the tv's info bar comes up with the input and time bar, to be clear I don't mean the virgin box bar with channel info and whats on next but the tv's bar.
Never used to do this with the Skybox and just wondered if there is a way to turn of the tv's info bar.

Hi @jenjen2205. The above “work-around” is for Android TVs only. The entire XE range suffers from the same fault in it’s software. Whereas Android users can use the above “work-a-round”, unfortunately Linux users on the entry level XEs cannot turn off the Info banner at all.
Edit: Sony will advise you to change the audio in the connected device to Stereo (could also be called Normal or PCM). The Info bar appears when the audio mode changes from Normal to Dolby Digital and vice versa. This of course has a severe impact on the viewer experience but Sony don’t appear to care.
Mate thanks fofothis bit ofoadvice the info banner has been driving me mad and trigtrigg my OCD to the max you have saved me a few quid in therapy!!
Hi "SonyUser30Yrs",
I've just created an account to say a massive "Thank You!!" for solving a problem we've endured with a Sony TV for the last three years!
We use a computer connected to our TV and every time we selected something on the Desktop, the TV would show this black bar at the top and you'd have to wait until it cleared before you make any other selection from the computer. It ididn't take long before this became seriously irritating.
Thank you for saving our sanity!
Chris
My TV is the KD-65XD8599 Android TV. The black output bar is quite irritating when you are watching a sport channel and want to see the team scores and time remaining.
The prescribed solution hasnt worked following your steps. I have double checked and "channel info" is now turned off.
I however found out that on the same output (HDMI 4ARC 3840x2160P) there are several sub-outputs (ie. Player1-SkyTV HDMI4, Player2-PS3 HDMI4... etc). These are all supplied via the 1 single HDMI4 connected Sony amp STR-DN1080N. If I select just the amp HMDI4 option, I have the black bar stuck on top forever. If I however select the HDMI4 output then specific SkyTV or Tuner or PS3, the black bar HDMI... disappears.
Thank you again although the advice didnt quite resolve my problem.

Hi @CKapasa
When I had a KD-55XD9305 I found you had to perform a soft reboot (hold down remote power button for 10 seconds until you see Power off) for the change of Info bar Off to take effect. Simply changing it without a soft reboot did nothing.
