I have tried to connect my Sony camcorder to my A115Z with a 4pin to 4 pin i-link / firewire cable. The computer cannot locate or connect with the camcorder. I have tried all of the help suggestions given by XP. I will try the cable on another machine, but am I missing something simple here? The same camcorder worked fine on my old desktop with a 6 pin to 4 pin cable.
I vaguely remember seeing a fix for your problem on the Vaio-Link page. Have you tried getting the latest updates. You can get them here if not.
Some makes/models of camera require an XP patch - what make & model is the camera?
Thanks for the input.
It's a Sony TRV50
I have found a download patch for this problem (solution 31514 / DVGate patch 2.3 06070) - trouble is my version of DVGate is something like 1.2 and it won't let the patch install. It says I need version 2.1. Where on the Vaio site can I get this?
I think (someone shoot me down in flames if I'm wrong), that DVGate 2.1 is the American version, and what you have is the European version.
You can try eSupport HERE or you can try ringing Sony (the number is on VAIO-Link) for help as it is Sony's own software...

LOL OK - I accept defeat:smileylaugh:
Me and the gear are not in the UK so ringing Sony and listening to Greensleeves for half an hour is not feasible. I have searched the support stuff looking for mention of DVGate 2.1 downloads, but can find nothing. I will try emailing Sony, but won't hold my breath.
Any other help / suggestions?
Can it be this difficult to locate where to obtain / download DVGate 2.1? This is ridiculous - Sony suggests problem solving which does not work.
