Its the MH750 that comes with my Xperia X which have a mic, so it have 3 rings and 4 pins.

I have others at home that I ocassionally use with this phone, a cheaper Sony headphone and a Audio Technica IM50.

The auto optimisation can detect the capabilities of your earphones by playing music through them and recording through them at the same time, once the adjusted audio matches up exactly with the recorded audio the optimiser sets that output as the ideal sound for those earphones and boosts the certain frequencies that is audible through those settings.
The entire process takes between 5-10 seconds depending on detail of audio being played.

How does the phone record when the mic is so far away from the headphones?
