How to copy files from a locked XperiaZ with broken screen

Hi,

I have an Xperia Z, with a cracked screen that is not responding to touch anymore.

Tried to copy files from Phone to PC, but I'm not able to see the sd-card or files.

Tried the PC Companion. It sees the phone, but say's it has to be unlocked. Which is not possible anymore.

I also tried MyPhoneExplorer (which seems to have spyware on board according TrendMicro), but also no success.

Please help, because I need my 1100 pictures....

Kind regards, Jelmer

Hi @Jockette1974

You to uscan use an OTG cable and a USB mouse, this way you could unlock the screen. I'm at disposal for any question.

My screen was totally smashed and black and this is how I accessed mine.

Connected to PC via USB.

e

I could not power the phone down as I had no screen so I held the power and volume up button. The phone restarted with a blue light in the top left rather then a red one.

I then held the power button again and the phone appeared to reset again this time back on the red light.

I then pressed and held the camera button which would usually activate the camera in lock mode.

My computer now re-recognised the device via usb and I was able to access the internal memory.

Worked for me but may have been a total fluke.

Hi guys,

I got Sony Xperia Active (Sony Ericsson ST17i, Sony Ericsson ST17a) and I got broken screen - nothing is visible, but touch screen is working, so actally I can unlock the screen just with swiping.

I am using Macbook - OSX computer, and when I insert cable, I get message:

Can't access device storage

If your device screen is locked, disconnect the USB cable, unlock your screen, and then recoonect the USB cable.

The program which is picking it up is Android File transfer. I believe screen is unlocked, so I even tried to boot with volume up (and blue light blink once). Any idea how to get my photos from my internal storage?

@2ge

Sorry to hear about your phone Slightly_frowning_Face

Xperia active doesn't store any pictures on the internal memory, this is just used for apps and the firmware. Your pictures are stored on the SD card so if you remove that and put it in a card reader you should see them in the DCIM\100ANDRO folder.

Using the mouse connected to the phone is brilliant, retrieved all of my information and have transferred to my new phone.
