Pc companion / Dock

When i connect my phone to the dock it charges fine but pc companion doesnt recognise it.

If i remove from dock open charging flat and use the cable thats powering the dock it works....

Why wouldnt it work when i have my phone docked?

The dock it's only to charge the phone, nothing else.

The magnetic charging port is for charging. The USB port can handle charging and data transfer.

Nothing pointless about it. If you wish to save opening the port everytime you charge it's very handy.
