Maybe it's gorilla alike glass? Corning company doesn't say anything bout supporting sony with it's glass panels (just one model listed, guess xperia arc s, but not sure at the moment).
Maybe sony didn't want to make an advert to corning company and they didn't mentioned in specs.
Well if someone scratches it will know for sure as it's scratch proof to anything beyond sand and hard minerals Grinning_Face

You can't call it "scratch proof" then give caveats such as "except to sand". It's not scratch proof. My first Z2 got scratches from sand, but also from somewhere else which was not identified, maybe coins or keys. My second Z2 has a tempered glass screen protector on it and I took it to the beach, a black sand beach if anyone is interested, think it's made from volcanos, and the screen protector did not scratch... At all. Still looks brand new. Whatever glass Sony is using is less scratch resistant than tempered glass.

Front and back glass uses DragonTail tempered glass. And from what I know, so does the Z and Z1. Look it up, not on GSMArena however.

Yes, even I thought it's DragonTrail glass!!! That's how it is said in Wikipedia page as well!! It's DragonTrail! Not Gorilla Glass! 😨

Yes, mentioned it earlier that even the Sony site for the Z2 doesn't say which manufacturer is used.....seems a bit weird:smileyconfused:

Interesting video on YouTube i heard about...someone fully bending an iPhone 6 Sapphire Glass fully back using his foot and it springs back perfectly.......undamaged

The information i got is that the display glass is Gorilla 3. I don't have any information about the back yet but i will keep trying to get that information.

so rickaard , I'm also worried about which type of glass sony used on z3.. "tempered glass" description basicly a general tag name for durable glass, there's no info about how hard or durable it is. maybe it's not written cuz it's less durable thn gorilla glass 2 or 3 so sony don't want us to know about it. ? as long as sony gives no info abuot it, people might think like they don't they?

I'm not sure if sony cares about what people say to develop xperia phones but those users are arguing like "it's gorilla front dragontail on back", sum of say "gorilla both front and back" and the others say "it's none it's generic"  on reddit xda and various places

and you said it has gorilla glass 3 on the front but no info about back..

Then why i don't see any of Sony phones on Gorilla Glass website?

here is the link: http://www.corninggorillaglass.com/en/products-with-gorilla

Maybe u can be the voice of people via all of the forums (inc. reddit, xda etc) and ask sony to write something real on both official sony and corning glass website.

waiting your scripted reply

Maybe this Gorilla is not from Corning.

@Bearings Gorila glass is a trademark from Corning so there should not be any other gorilla glass.

Still curious why Sony does not advertise this on Z2 specs sheet though.

Definitely a selling point to some people.
