A month ago I bought my girlfriend the Xperia X. Now she can't pull down the status bar any longer. The touch screen seems to be dead in this area. A restart and factory reset did not help. I searched the forum and some Z3 phones seem to have the same problem. How could Sony transfer such a serious fault from an older series to a newer one?
try to perform a software repair using Xperia Companion
if still not fixed, try to contact your local service center for repairs. Local support
Nope, that did not work.
Hi @Harry248,
I'm sorry to hear about this.
Did your girlfriend install any apps or restored any backup after the software repair was completed?
If she did I would recommend that you reboot the phone in safe mode. Are you able to pull down the status bar while the phone is rebooted to safe mode?
There is also a test in the phone that you can run to see if you are able to clear the top part of the screen. To run this test go to Settings > About phone > Diagnostics > Test > Touchscreen. Can you clear the top part of the screen in the test?
Let me know how it went!
Yes, we restored everything after the software repair. Was this a failure? But the statusbar wasn't pullable from the very first moment after the repair - while all the restored apps were still downloading. So I doubt it would have made any difference.
I also already tried the touchscreen test yesterday - without any luck. The upper portion of the screen did not react to touches.
I have requested a repair now and will dispatch the phone later this week.
Thanks for getting back to me!
Some of the data included in the backup could have been the cause of the top part of the touchscreen not working.
I'm sorry to hear that you will have to send your girlfriends phone to service after such a short time.
Feel free to get back to me if you have any other questions!

Any speculations as to what/which data included in the back up are possible causes of the unresponsive touchscreen?
So that we (the Z-series users) would also be able to fix our phones by removing said cause from our phones.
Cheers
I just tried the software repair again without restoring apps/settings etc. Still no luck. Also tried the safe mode - no difference. It really seems to be an error in production affecting the X-, Z- and probably other series too.
@Harry248 Thanks for letting me know, sorry to hear there was no improvement.
@tinong9 It's hard to say which data could affect the touchscreen but I always recommend that you don't restore the backup directly after a software repair. It's better if you try the phone out and then restore the backup.
